Waiting for Gouda

There is a small post-it note stuck on my computer monitor that says, simply, “Don’t Forget.” And while I have no idea to what this basic directive refers, I still think it is pretty good advice. I seem to recall a time when there was something that I never wanted to forget, some kind of circumstance or event that was either simply so wonderful and joyous that it would always bring a smile to my face when recollected, or else completely terrible and therefore demanding remembrance for other reasons entirely. I’m pretty sure that I had said to myself at the time, “Remember this, my friend. Remember this always.” I’m a little fuzzy on the details, such as when or where it took place, or who else was there, and why, but this little post-it note has reminded me to at least not forget that there was something that at some point I didn’t want to forget. Maybe, just maybe, this is enough.
